Everything you need to know
What to wear
Loose, comfortable clothing that allows freedom of movement. Gym workout wear is perfect. (Note, this isn’t a fashion show – be comfortable). Avoid wearing perfume to class as it may aggravate others’ allergies.
How to book
If you are coming to a weekly class on the timetable (including Pregnancy Yoga), no need to book – just roll up. If you would like to join a course or workshop, visit the Coming Up page to book your place.
When to arrive
Be a few minutes early to class to begin the centring process and avoid disrupting others. The door will be locked once class commences.
What to bring
We have mats, but you are welcome to bring your own if you prefer. Always bring your own mat and towel to Hot Yoga classes. Leave your phone in the car (check in to Ten Toes on Facebook, then leave it in the glovebox). We also sell mats for $30 if you would like your own.
Who can come
Everyone is welcome. If you are pregnant, please stick to pregnancy yoga classes and visit the Pregnancy Yoga page for more information. If you have any recent injuries or illnesses, get advice from your healthcare professional before starting Yoga. If you are under 16 years of age, bring a parent or guardian with you to class.
Where to go
We have beautiful yoga studios in Brisbane CBD, New Farm and Ascot. Choose Locations from the menu above for more information.
Where to park
See the locations pages on this website for more information about parking near our studios.
How to pay
You can buy your class pass online (see the Passes & Prices page) or at the studio. All bookings for courses and workshops are taken online using our secure credit card payment system.
How much to pay
The very first time you come to Ten Toes, get yourself a Welcome Pass. It’s only $47 for a month of unlimited classes, starting on the day you buy it. You can buy it online or at the studio. After that, there is a range of passes to choose from to suit your schedule – take a look at the Passes & Prices page in the Classes menu for more info.
How to prepare for class
Try not to eat for 2-3 hours prior to class (but be sensible – fainting is worse than eating)
If you are pregnant
Wait until you are in the second trimester, then come to Pregnancy Yoga classes. They are listed on the timetable. We don’t have Pregnancy Yoga classes at the CBD studio.
Once you are at the studio…
It almost never happens, but should the studio capacity be filled before you arrive you will not be able to stay for class. If you’re on time, but don’t get to participate in the class because the studio is full (and time permits) the teacher may at their discretion take down your name and add a free class to your account to use at a later date.
Never wear your shoes in the studio – remove them outside the door and put them on the shelves in the studio.
Discuss any injuries or physical issues with the teacher prior to class
Stay for Savasana – it makes the rest of your effort in class worthwhile and leaving early disrupts the rest of the class
Respect the limitations of your body by working around its weaknesses and never forcing a stretch (this should be at the top, really)
We recommend taking any class three times before you make up your mind about it (the first time it’s all new, the second time you think it was easier the first time and the third time you recognise the rhythm of the class and warm to the teacher, so you have a chance to enjoy it)
Remember that Yoga is strictly non-competitive – don’t even compete with yourself
It is more pleasant for others in the class if you wear deodorant. If you want to be hippy about it (most of us do!) use a Crystal Stick, available from most natural food stores and even some IGA stores.
